Choose Your Lawn
Whether you need grass that is shade tolerant, thrives in full sun, requires less maintenance, or stays green all year round, we’ve got the grass for you!
Choosing the lawn which will best suit your lifestyle is the most important step. After all you are looking for a lawn that will bring you happiness and memories for years to come.
There are a couple of things to consider when choosing your dream lawn. These factors include sun exposure, climate, salt levels in your soil, water availability, wear and tear, look and feel and most importantly, your budget. Luckily for you, we at Evergreen Lawns have a range of varieties to suit your needs and have the expertise and experience to help guide you into making the right choice.
Kikuyu
Kikuyu is a full sun tolerant lawn and known to be very aggressive growing. It establishes very easily and is therefore a common and recommended choice. It requires regular mowing in summer and is not tolerant to frost in winter and may turn brown in the colder months.
KWEEK (cynodon)
Kweek is a full sun, non-aggressive grower. It is a fine leafed grass and gives a great fine finish when maintained but is prone to weed competition and requires a higher standard of management.
Buffalo
Buffalo is a beautiful shade tolerant lawn and is not a very aggressive grower. It is and indigenous species and a good salt tolerant lawn and does well on river estuaries and sea fronts of the coastal areas. Maintenance of this lawn is relatively low and should not be mowed too short.
Richmond/LM
Richmond lawn is one of our favourites. It is an indigenous lawn that is shade tolerant and easy to maintain but should not be mowed too short.

All varieties of lawn are locally grown in only the best soils on our sod farm ensuring they are all well developed and adapted to the climatic conditions such as the coastal winds and humidity of the Eastern Cape. We ensure that our lawns root systems are well established and perfectly developed before harvesting for you. This gives the plant optimal opportunity for success and also offers easy handling when transporting and laying, making both your and our jobs easier and more efficient with minimal damage to your new lawn. Every square meter is harvested using internationally sourced machines and can be supplied in both rolls or flat slabs on a pallet to best suit your job type.
Rolls offer easy handling and can be placed into smaller restricted areas where pallets are offloaded in less restricted areas using our specialised truck mounted forklift. This limits handling and speeds up the offloading process and allows large amounts of lawn to be perfectly placed which also speeds up the installation process with minimal distance between the pallet and planting area.
We are proud to supply all our lawn with a generous depth of quality topsoil attached to the root structure of each sod of your new lawn. This is essential for successful transplanting and accelerates the growth process of your lawn for optimal establishment.
